BOMA Awards Volunteers of the Year
Wednesday, October 16, 2019
Every year, the BOMA Silicon Valley president has the honor of recognizing outstanding volunteer leaders--a Principal Member of the Year, Associate Members of the Year, and a President's Award.
Nominated by the BOMA membership, and chosen by the Board of Directors, the Principal of the Year Award was presented to Past President Olga Ornelas of Swift Real Estate Partners. "It would take a long time to read from all the comments that were submitted to support her nomination, but this sums it up well:" said President Tiffany Lauchlan in presenting the award. "Through her mentorship of fellow members and her welcoming of new members, Olga has become such an integral part of BOMA SV that it is hard to associate one without the other."
Congratulations, Olga Ornelas!
Also nominated by the membership and chosen by the Board of Directors, the 2019 Associate of the Year Award was presented to Terry Riecken of CMD Builders. "As you all know, Terry has been an indispensable part of two of BOMA Silicon Valley’s biggest annual events – our Golf Tournament and Share Your Holiday," said Tiffany in presenting the award. "But it's his involvement in Share Your Holiday specifically that he was nominated for. The member who nominated him noted 'He spends countless hours each year preparing, organizing, and executing the food and gift drives and leaves a tremendous impact on the lives of needy families and children in our community'".
The final volunteer of the year award, the President's Award, is chosen solely by the BOMA Silicon Valley President. Kept a secret until the awards lunch, President Tiffany Lauchlan presented the 2019President's Award to Brandi Calderon of Embarcadero Realty Services. "My only criteria to choose the awardee is it should be given to an individual or company whose commitment, support, and dedication to BOMA Silicon Valley should be recognized by the Association, and this individual certainly meets these criteria," said Tiffany. "Brandi has really stepped up in recent years, agreeing to chair committees, participate in the annual TOBY awards, and next year will serve on the Board. She is a tremendous asset to BOMA Silicon Valley, and the association is better because of her participation and leadership."
