President's Message

I am thrilled to have the opportunity to serve as your 2018 BOMA Silicon Valley President. It is going to be an exciting year in Commercial Real Estate in the Silicon Valley. There have already been some big deals in the first month of the year, like Hitachi leasing an entire building consisting of 222,000 square feet at Santa Clara Square and Google bought 5 acres in Sunnyvale for $21 million.

If you haven’t paid your 2018 dues, be sure to get those paid by January 31st so you don’t get dropped and to secure your spot at our February lunch. Also, be sure to RSVP to the February lunch! The lunch is included in your 2018 dues. If you cannot make it, you can gift your lunch to a colleague, just let the BOMA office know who you are gifting it to!

And make sure to put on your calendar the Mystery Mixer in March! This is a great opportunity for you to take a break from work, have some fun and connect with your colleagues!

An exciting new benefit with your BOMA membership this year is a $250 education credit to apply to any RPA/FMA designation course offered in person through BOMA Silicon Valley. Meet Our New President

I have the honor of serving as your 2018 BOMA Silicon Valley President. There are many of you I have not yet met or gotten to know. I thought I would share with you some information about me, my history with BOMA and background in commercial real estate so we can get acquainted!

I initially joined BOMA back in 1998 because I had a huge interest in the TOBYs (The Outstanding Buildings of the Year awards). You could only judge TOBYs or enter TOBYs if you were a member, so I joined. 

The biggest benefits I have gained from being in BOMA have come through connecting with colleagues. It is great to have so many people to lean on as a sounding board, a resource of knowledge and to get best practices from.  BOMA also exposes me to high quality vendors with services that I need at my fingertips. And finally, BOMA offers amazing education for me and my staff.

I moved back to California from Arizona in March 2015. I wanted to be back in a big CRE market (one without Snow!) and I wanted a bigger challenge. When I moved here, I quickly got involved in BOMA SV!

As your President, I have some key goals for our Association: Increase engagement of existing members, grow our membership, increase attendance at our educational offerings by offering excellent subject matter, and for our association to be a part of the changes in advocacy, locally and nationally. My personal goal for 2018 is to get more young professionals interested in Commercial Real Estate.

And on the personal side, when not in BOMA, I love to golf, support my Dallas Cowboys, and traveling throughout the continental US.

Members In The News

Woodmont Real Estate Services has been awarded the Accredited Management Organization (AMO) Firm of the Year for the company’s leadership in sustainability and its management response to the North Bay wildfires in October. The award was presented by the San Francisco chapter of IREM®, the Institute of Real Estate Management.

As reported in the January 10 online issue of The Registry: During the October North Bay Wildfires, five of the eight apartment communities managed by Woodmont Real Estate Services in the Santa Rosa area required mandatory evacuation by all residents and Woodmont staff. The evacuations affected approximately 750 apartment homes and temporarily displaced some 2,000 people. Fortunately none of the residents or Woodmont employees were injured by the wildfires, though one community lost a building of eight apartments to the fire. During the evacuation period Woodmont worked to communicate with residents to keep them updated as information was released by authorities. When the evacuation orders were lifted Woodmont hired a specialized restoration company to clean the exteriors and interiors of apartment buildings impacted by smoke and ash to facilitate resident return to their apartments.

Our congratulations to the Woodmont team for their outstanding efforts in sustainable management and their support of the communities in which they provide services.
